About LAND + HOME
We believe a home should support the life you want to live, not consume it.
We're a military family with three young children, so home has looked a little different for us over the years.
We've moved often and bought and sold homes at several duty stations, sometimes with agents and sometimes on our own. Along the way we learned, sometimes the hard way, just how many decisions go into finding a place to call home.
How much of our life do we really want to spend paying for our home?
Why LAND + HOME
As housing costs kept climbing, we started looking seriously at alternatives: land, smaller homes, building differently, and especially manufactured housing.
I was born and raised in Germany, where manufactured housing like it exists in the U.S. isn't really part of the picture. That outside view helped me see how unique this option is.
Manufactured homes have carried a stigma for decades. They aren't right for everyone, but today's homes have come a long way, and for some families they offer something that's getting harder to find:
A realistic path to owning a home without building your whole life around a mortgage.
That idea became the foundation for LAND + HOME.
Affordable housing creates room for more
The goal isn't the biggest house you can qualify for. For us, affordable homeownership is about freedom:
Work a little less someday
More time raising your kids
Room to travel
Building real savings
Owning some land
Work you actually enjoy
A home should be where you live your life, not the thing that keeps you from living it. And there's more than one way to get there.
Do your research. Know your numbers.
Realtors, lenders, builders, dealers, and contractors can all be great resources, but each one sees the deal from their own side of the table.
LAND + HOME is independent. We don't sell homes, land, or loans, so our tools are built for one person: you.
You're the one who has to live with the decision.
So ask questions, learn the true costs, and compare your options before you sign anything. You don't need to become an expert. You just need enough information to choose what makes sense for you.
We did the digging, so you don't start from zero
When our family started planning our own next chapter, I went deep: land, site prep, utilities, permits, zoning, building costs, financing, and all the hidden expenses you don't know to look for until you're in the middle of it.

From our family to yours
Before LAND + HOME, I ran a handmade children's clothing shop. I loved it, but moving every few years with three little ones made a handmade business hard to keep going.
LAND + HOME is a new chapter, built on the research we're already doing for our own family and the belief that a more affordable home can make room for a richer life.
